Greetings, Lamar County Elementary School!

I am honored to serve as your principal. I grew up in Philadelphia, Mississippi where my parents taught me the value of hard work and they set high expectations for me concerning my education. My educational path took me to Mississippi State University where I earned 2 degrees (Bachelor’s and Master’s) in Sociology and School Counseling. My journey continued to the University of West Georgia where I earned a Specialist in Educational Leadership (2008) and went on to complete my formal academic journey at Walden University where I earned my Doctorate in Educational Administration (2019) defending my dissertation and research on the topic of “Elementary Principals as Successful Instruction Leaders”.
It is my goal to work with each of you to create an environment where we can provide an excellent and equitable educational experience and prepare our students for college, career, and life. I plan to do that by maintaining a laser-like focus on our student performance data, effectively communicating with all of our stakeholders and by receiving and considering your respectful feedback when working with my leadership team and the LCES School Council to make decisions about strategies for moving our school forward.
To follow this school’s journey to excellence and equity, please follow us on our social media sites (FB, Instagram and Twitter), and by receiving and reading all school to home communication via paper, Classtag and Campus Messenger. Also, please know that I am always available to receive any respectful feedback about your ideas and strategies for moving our school forward.  Your opinion matters and I want to hear or read it.
Dr. Phonecia Wilson,
Your Proud Principal

I completed my Bachelor of Arts degree in History-Secondary Education from Gordon State College. I also earned a Master of Curriculum and Instruction degree from Columbus State University and a Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from Valdosta State University. I am currently completing work towards a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Samford University. My dissertation and research interests are focused on the underrepresentation of minority students receiving gifted education services.

Additionally, I am certified in Educational Leadership-Tier II, Curriculum and Instruction, Special Education, History-Economics, Language Arts, and Gifted Education and was recognized as the Lamar County Middle School Teacher of the Year in 2019. I am looking forward to working with each of you and furthering the work of our learning community. I share a strong commitment to our school’s vision of providing all students with an equitable and excellent education that prepares them for college, career, and life.
