Native American Celebration

This is the image for the news article titled Native American CelebrationFourth grade students recently completed a unit on Native Americans. To culminate the unit, students demonstrated learning through creative ways along with a traditional pot latch of diverse foods.

The Georgia Standards state that: SS4H1 The student will describe how early Native American cultures developed in North America. a. Locate where Native Americans settled with emphasis on the Arctic (Inuit), Northwest (Kwakiutl), Plateau (Nez Perce), Southwest (Hopi), Plains (Pawnee), and Southeast (Seminole). b. Describe how Native Americans used their environment to obtain food, clothing, and shelter.


For this project, students 
chose from the Nez Perce, Hopi, Inuit, Kwakiutl, Pawnee, and Seminole tribes.  They could either make an artifact or clothing.  They had to write 10 sentences on their tribe and project. Some decided to make posters also to go with their project.
